Splash House, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary, melds the best parts of music and pools. Founded in 2013 by siblings Tyler and Kelly McLean, the three-day music festival kicks off two parties this summer on weekends August and August 18-20. Each resort has its own vibe, so guests can find a party and atmosphere that suits their tempo. A shuttle is also available to transport music fans to each of the host hotels so they can experience all the locations.

Over three days, including Friday, Monday and Tuesday, lifeguards trained on water-rescue scenarios they may have to face as part of their jobs at the Splash House. The Splash House wave pool is the largest one I’ve seen at any public pool, amusement parks notwithstanding. Lifeguards are on duty at this large wave pool, watching for guests who are struggling with the strength of the waves, and children wearing live vests or floaties are not permitted to go deeper than four feet. There are times during the day when the wave pool has “Power Hour” when the waves are stronger and bigger than the rest of the day and there’s more space to body surf. During Power Hour, no one under 48 inches tall is permitted in the wave pool. When the sun goes down, the party shifts from poolside to plane-side with a unique after-hours show at the Palm Springs Air Museum, which has a variety of vintage war aircrafts on display.
Splash House features bathing suit–clad music fans splashing and dancing in and around the pools to performances by DJs and live electronic music artists. Lifeguards at the Marion Splash House coached by Marion Fire Department Training Officer Eddie Overmyer (left) carry a training dummy from the wave pool as part of a water-rescue exercise Friday. Splash House is a popular destination for residents and visitors. Admission prices are reasonable, there are a lot of things to do and the drive isn’t too bad from most central Indiana cities. It’s best to arrive early in the day because often, the water park fills up and the lines are long.

Most people recover from the illness in five to seven days. Some individuals may develop a severe illness called hemolytic uremic syndrome, or HUS, which can be life-threatening, although most people recover in a few weeks. The festival brought in approximately $6.7 million per weekend in 2022, officials said. On August artists Odesza, Maya Janes Coles, Phantoms, and QRTR perform on the tarmac at the after-hours.
